Sparrow has since appeared in other video games, including "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" voiced by James Arnold Taylor for the second time. Outside films, Jack Sparrow appeared as a companion character in the 2006 video game Kingdom Hearts II, where he was voiced by James Arnold Taylor in the English version and Hiroaki Hirata (who also dubbed Sparrow in the film's Japanese dubs) in the Japanese version. Anthony De La Torre portrayed the character young in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He is portrayed by Johnny Depp, who also portrayed the title character in Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. The character's personality was developed more as the films progress. Sparrow is introduced seeking to regain his ship, the Black Pearl, from his mutinous first mate, Hector Barbossa, later attempts to escape his blood debt to the evil Davy Jones while battling the East India Trading Company. He prefers to negotiate or trick his enemies in the most dangerous situations and fight only when necessary. In the context of the films, Sparrow is one of the nine pirate lords in the Brethren Court, the Pirate Lords of the Seven Seas. Despite being a morally ambiguous character, Jack has heroic moments as when he gives up on the chance to obtain immortality to save Will Turner's life in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Jack can be described as a true anti-hero since he embodies the ideals of a true pirate, doing what he deems necessary to keep himself out of trouble, though usually failing at doing so.
